Abstract:Aiming at converter slag samples with different slow cooling time in Guixi Smelter, the chemical composition, chemical phase, mineral composition, particle size distribution and flotation test study were performed. The results show that the forsterite in the slag transforms to ferrite with the increase of cooling time. The effect of cooling time on grain size of copper minerals in slag is not obvious, nor on the flotation for the studied samples. The contents of copper occurred in silicate is the dominate factor having negative impact on Cu flotation. And the study shows that the occurrence state is determined by smelting process rather than cooling time, so smelting process optimization should be taken to obtain better flotation metallurgical performance.
